Hot Days… A few PM Storms… Thursday Forecast Update – 4pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Thursday afternoon! All of west and central Alabama is under a heat advisory through 9pm this evening, as the air temperature and moisture combination has created dangerous heat across the state. Heat index has approached 110 in some areas this afternoon, but temperatures will gradually drop this evening, with upper 80s at 7pm and upper 70s by midnight. A few isolated storms have popped up this afternoon, but these will diminish this evening, as we lose the afternoon heating.

There’s a slightly better chance of a few scattered storms Friday afternoon, but most areas will not get rain. Highs will reach the upper 90s, with a heat index near 107. Expect the hot weather to continue through the weekend, with highs in the upper 90s and lows in the mid 70s. A few pop up storms are possible each afternoon through the weekend.

The ridge will weak some early next week, and a weak upper air trough axis will build into the area. I expect a few scattered storms each day between Monday and Thursday of next week. Not everyone will get rain every day, but there is a higher chance of a storm moving over your house.
