Dangerous Heat Ahead… Isolated Storms… Tuesday Forecast Update – 5pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Tuesday afternoon! It has turned out very hot this afternoon, but a few spots are getting a passing downpour to cool local temperatures a bit, but if you are missing the rain today, temperatures are very hot. The intense upper air ridge just northwest of Alabama will be nudging into Alabama on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This will cause temperatures to increase to dangerous levels.

Expect the risk of a passing shower or storm to decrease tonight, with lows in the mid 70s. Highs will reach the upper 90s to near 100 on Wednesday through Saturday, but heat index will approach 110 to 112 in many areas! Stay well hydrated if you are working outdoors this week into the first half of the weekend. The ridge will weaken some late in the weekend and early next week, allowing the risk of scattered storms to increase some.

The tropics remain quiet…
