A good Sunday evening to everybody out there. At the time of this blog post we are watching isolated showers and thunderstorms on the radar as expected. A few storms are located north and south of Tuscaloosa in addition to a few storms in the Birmingham metro. Expect the shower and thunderstorm activity to gradually diminish over the next couple of hours,  and by the time we get to the 10 o’clock news tonight most of the wet weather should have dissipated. Overnight tonight we will forecast a partly cloudy sky with overnight lows dropping in to the mid 70s.

The main story for tomorrow and also the next couple of days is going to be the heat with afternoon highs working in to the mid and upper 90s. Tomorrow afternoon we will go with a high of 95 for Tuscaloosa with just the slight chance of isolated showers and storms very similar to today. The chance of rain for tomorrow will be around 20 percent.

As of right now, Tuesday looks to have the best rain chances of the next couple of days, but even then we are only looking at around 30 percent. By Wednesday we are in the upper 90s for afternoon highs with just the slight chance of a few showers and storms. Heat index values by Wednesday could very likely be up in the triple digits so take it easy if you have outdoor plans during the afternoon.

Thursday looks like the hottest day of the week with a high of 98. Friday continues the hot trend with a high near 97. An early look at next weekend shows slightly increased rain chances with afternoon highs holding strong in the mid 90s.

Join us live on WVUA23 weekdays at 5, 6 and 10:00 P.M. and weekends at 10PM for the very latest on your news, weather and sports.

Have a great day!
