Hot and Humid End to Workweek

It’s been another scorcher in Central Alabama this afternoon. Temperatures look to top out in the mid 90s this afternoon, and Heat Index values, what it feels like to you and me outside, are topping out well above 100 degrees! It’s important if you are spending long periods of time outside that you take breaks from direct sunlight and drink plenty of water. This is especially important for children and the elderly, who are at higher risk for heat related illness. It will be almost as hot again tomorrow afternoon, with temperatures topping out in the mid 90s once again and Heat Index values in the mid 100s.

A few widely scattered storms are possible on Friday, mainly from about 2pm to 10 pm, but most spots will remain dry. Thanks to a weak cool front, the weekend will be much nicer with dewpoints also much lower leading to much more comfortable weather. Sunny skies and high temperatures right around the 90 degree mark will make this weekend excellent for those with outdoor plans.

The nice weather will continue into the early part of next week, with sunshine sticking around through at least Tuesday, and high temperatures staying near the 90 degree mark. A change comes to the forecast by the middle of next week as rain chances go up with another weak disturbance making its way through the state.
