Hot Days Ahead… Few Scattered Storms Return… Thursday Forecast Update – 3:30pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Thursday afternoon! Our local weather has turned out rather hot this afternoon, under a mostly sunny sky. Dewpoints remain low, so the heat is somewhat more bearable this afternoon. The low dewpoints will be replaced by a tropical airmass this weekend, so get ready for a big change in the comfort level.

An upper air ridge will continue to build into the area on Friday and over the weekend. The ridge will allow temperatures to increase into the middle 90s on Friday through Sunday. As dewpoints climb into the 70s over the weekend, I can’t rule out an isolated summer like storm or two each afternoon. If you have outdoor plans this weekend, don’t worry. Any storms that form will be very isolated and won’t last long.

The ridge will break down some on Monday through Wednesday of next week, allowing rain chances to increase a tad. Look for scattered, mainly afternoon and evening storms early to mid next week. Again, I do not expect a widespread beneficial rain, but some spots will get a passing downpour. Highs will drop into the lower 90s next week, but lows will remain in the 70s each night.

The tropics are quiet for the moment…
