Hot Days Ahead… Tuesday Forecast Update – 4pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Tuesday afternoon! As an upper air ridge continues to build across the area, surface temperatures are gradually increasing each afternoon. Most areas are reporting upper 80s as of 4pm, but a few spots have touched 90 degrees. With plenty of sunshine this afternoon and a strong ridge in place, it didn’t take much to get hot afternoon temperatures. Expect a slow drop in temperatures overnight, with lows in the lower 60s.

Wednesday and Thursday will feature dry and hot days, with highs near 90 degrees. Overnight lows Wednesday night and Thursday night will fall into the upper 60s.

The ridge weakens a tad Friday through Memorial Day Weekend, but only enough to allow highs to drop back into the upper 80s. I’ve got a 10% risk of a stray shower or storm during the afternoon hours Friday through the weekend, but most of you will not see a drop of rain. This will be your typical stray afternoon summer-like shower or storm. Expect lows in the upper 60s at night. Memorial Day is looking great for outdoor activities, such as a trip to the pool, lake, river or beach. Speaking of the beach… Expect lots of sunshine along the northern Gulf Coast this weekend, with highs in the 80s and lows near 70. No issues are expected at the beach this weekend, so enjoy!
