Good Wednesday afternoon! It has turned out to be a fantastic Spring day, with as temperatures remain pleasant for this time of the year. Clouds are increasing this afternoon, ahead of a secondary cold front. The front will bring a few showers to parts of central Alabama between 6pm and 10pm, but some areas will remain dry. Temperatures will turn a bit cooler tonight, with lows near 50 on average across central Alabama, with some upper 40s north of I-20.
Thursday and Friday will be two fantastic Spring days, with highs in the 70s and lows in the upper 40s to near 50. Look for a good dose of sunshine, as a surface high gradually moves into the area. Conditions will be breezy on Thursday before the surface high settles over the area on Friday.
Upper air ridging will build in from the west over the weekend, sending temperatures back into the lower to middle 80s. I don’t expect any risk of rain Wednesday through Sunday. Mother’s Day is looking dry and very warm…
Our next rain chance looks to arrive by Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Models are in better agreement with a decent risk of scattered showers and storms both days.
