Good Monday afternoon! Right on cue, showers and storms have developed across Alabama during the afternoon heating process. At 4pm, lots of scattered storms are ongoing across west and central Alabama and are tracking east. Expect the risk of these passing downpours to end later this evening from west to east. Rain amounts this afternoon will vary drastically, as some spots will get nothing, while others get over 1″. Expect temperatures to gradually return into the 60s overnight, with a low near 60 before sunrise Tuesday morning.
An upper air low nearby will keep some clouds passing through at times on Tuesday, with a small chance of a quick shower. Most of you will not get rain on Tuesday. Highs will top out in the middle to upper 70s on Tuesday, with lower to middle 70s on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. As a surface high moves overhead on Wednesday through Saturday, expect lots of sunshine and dry air. Lows at night will dip well down into the lower 50s each night this week, starting Tuesday night.
Upper air ridging will build in from the west over the weekend, sending temperatures back into the lower to middle 80s. I don’t expect any risk of rain Wednesday through Sunday. Mother’s Day is looking dry and very warm…
