Showers and Storms Again for Sunday…Saturday Evening Update 8:45

Good Saturday evening! Central Alabama dodged a bullet today with the opportunity for severe weather. A MCS was approaching the area from the west, but thanks to a fairly ridged cloud deck throughout the day, storm development was either very weak, or prevented. As the system approached central Alabama it dramatically weakened and begin to die out. Currently, there are just a few shower from the system remaining in all of Alabama. Over night those remaining showers will die off, before a new batch will start to develop early in the morning hours. Temperatures in some areas will struggle to drop depending on which areas have cloud cover to hold in warmer temperatures.

Tomorrow ends the weekend with showers and storms redeveloping during the day, very similar to the past two days. Storms will be strong, but likely non-severe so make sure to keep the rain gear handy. Temperatures will once again warm into the lower 80’s before a slight drop in temperatures arrive by the beginning of the work week.

The beginning of the work week keeps the shower and storm potential for both Monday and Tuesday with the correct ingredients still present to get storms to develop. Temperatures will be slightly lower with storms using much of the warmer moist air and a front arriving Tuesday. After Tuesday, the remainder of the work week turns dry and pleasant with temperatures remaining in the upper 70’s as night time temperatures drop back down into a more average low in the mid to lower 50’s.

Next weekend currently looks to keep the nice weather trend with temperatures breaking back into the 80’s and mostly clear skies.
