Showers at Times Through Friday… Nice Weekend… Wednesday Forecast Update – 5pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Wednesday afternoon! Our local weather is looking gloomy again this afternoon, with clouds spreading over the area. As an upper air disturbance moves into the area from the west, areas of light rain and sprinkles have moved into the state from the southwest. At 5pm, rain is not heavy across the state, but some areas are dealing with a little light and spotty rain. Expect the risk of rain to increase tonight, with a soaking at times. Overnight temperatures will dip into the upper 50s tonight.

The upper air disturbance and very weak surface low will remain overhead for Thursday and Friday, allowing the risk of occasional showers to remain in the forecast. I do not expect rain to fall all day or night, but have the umbrella handy as there is a chance of a passing shower or light rain at any time. Highs will drop into the upper 60s on Thursday and lower 60s on Friday. A cool air wedge will set up to the northeast of Alabama, with much cooler air spreading into east Alabama on Thursday and Friday. Some areas near the Georgia state line could stay in the 50s all day on Thursday and Friday.

Sunshine gradually returns on Saturday, after a cool and cloudy start to the day. Highs will reach the lower 70s on Saturday, with upper 70s on Sunday. As a ridge builds over the area early next week, look for highs to reach the 80 degree mark by Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
