At 4pm, we’ve had to slow the arrival time of the storms by a few hours. The main window of severe weather for west Alabama appears to be in the 6pm to 2am time-slot. Keep in mind, you will not have severe weather for that long of a duration at your house, that is an estimate when there is a chance of severe storms. Areas east of I-65 will not have any severe weather issues until after 8pm tonight. The risk for areas east of I-65 and south of I-20 could last until 3am Friday morning.

Storms this evening and tonight could produce damaging winds, hail and a few tornadoes. The higher risk of severe weather is for areas along and north of I-20, but areas south of Tuscaloosa and Birmingham are in a risk as well. Storms south of I-20 could also produce wind damage, hail and isolated tornadoes.

Below is the watch/warning map. Our local area remains under a flash flood watch. There is a tornado watch (counties in yellow) just to the west of Alabama over most of Mississippi. As the severe weather risks shifts closer to Alabama in the next few hours, we will likely see a tornado watch added for our counties.
