At 11:15pm, Severe Weather Risk Ending… #alwx @wvua23

Good Thursday night! As we approach midnight, the risk of severe weather appears to be ending rapidly for our area. A few strong storms are possible over the next couple of hours south of I-20, but I don’t expect a tornado risk for the rest of tonight. Storms across west Alabama are elevated and not rooted at the surface. This means, while some downpours with thunder are possible between now and 3am, tornadoes are not expected. Rain amounts will continue to add up for areas south of I-20 over the next few hours, and this could lead to additional flooding.

The map below shows where all of our west and central Alabama counties have been dropped from the tornado watch. A flash flood watch remains through Friday night.

A few showers are possible on Friday….
