Good Tuesday afternoon! Our local weather started off chilly this morning, with most areas well into the lower 40s. With plenty of sunshine this afternoon, temperatures warmed rapidly. Temperatures have generally reached the lower to middle 70s as of 4pm. Expect only a slow drop in temperatures this evening, with most spots falling into the lower 50s overnight.

Wednesday will start off dry and mild. Highs will reach the middle to upper 70s on Wednesday, with an increase in clouds. A few showers and storms will enter far west Alabama during the evening and overnight hours on Wednesday.

DMA Severe Risk Areas new.png

Look for a good chance of storms Thursday morning. Some storms could be strong to severe. The main risk with the Thursday morning round of storms would be damaging wind. The best chance of anything becoming strong to severe will occur over northwest Alabama. The tornado risk early Thursday morning looks very low. A second round of storms looks to develop sometime Thursday afternoon and evening and continue into the overnight hours. If the atmosphere can recover, this will bring the higher chance of storms becoming strong to severe. Damaging winds, hail and isolated tornadoes are all possible in this setup. Be weather alert Thursday afternoon through the overnight hours. By sunrise Friday, the risk should have ended.

Flooding is possible in some areas, where rain amounts will reach 2 to 4 inches. If you live in a flood prone area, use caution.

The weekend is looking a tad cooler, with comfortable afternoons and chilly overnight hours.
