Nice Tuesday… Storms by Wed Night – Thursday… Monday Forecast Update – 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Monday afternoon! It has turned out to be a really nice afternoon across the state, with ample sunshine and comfortable temperatures. Most areas have reached the upper 60s to lower 70s today. Expect chilly temperatures after sunset, with lows dipping into the lower 40s. Skies will remain clear tonight.

Tuesday will feature a nice day, with a high in the middle 70s. Skies remain sunny on Tuesday, but clouds will increase on Wednesday ahead of a developing storm system. A few showers and storms are possible in west Alabama Wednesday evening and especially Wednesday night.

A strong system will impact the central US on Thursday, sending a cold front into Alabama. We’ll likely deal with a heavy round of rain and storms, which could cause some flooding. Our latest forecast models suggest most of our area could get 3″ of rain, with higher amounts scattered. With some instability and wind shear, it’s possible we run into some severe weather issues on Thursday. Depending on what happens with the morning round of rain and storms will determine if we have any issues or not. Keep checking back with us for more updates as we get closer.

Sunshine will return sometime on Friday and into the weekend. Highs will reach the upper 60s to near 70 this weekend, with chilly overnight temperatures. I don’t see any major signs of a frost in our area this weekend, but we’ll watch temperature trends carefully.
