Rain Tonight and Tomorrow…Thursday Evening Update 3/17/16 7 p.m.

Hopefully everyone got out and enjoyed the last day of nice weather before it goes away this  weekend. Today’s highs once again climbed into the mid and upper 70’s across central Alabama. Down at the coast there has been some stronger storms form the stationary front that has stalled out there. That stationary front has provided some moisture to allow for a few very isolated showers to develop in the far southern central sections of Alabama. Tonight a larger portion of precipitation will move into the state from the west. Lows tonight will drop again into the lower 50’s, but not as easily with the cloud cover holding in some of the heat from today. Tomorrow morning will start off mostly dry, with a few areas maybe still hanging onto an isolated shower, but as the day progresses, showers and storm will once again push through the state as a cold front pushes through the state, providing the uplift for those storms and getting the stationary front to our south moving again.

Saturday, isolated and scattered showers continue during the day, into the early evening hours as the cold front finishes passing. The cold front will provide some cooler temperatures for this weekend, but by next week temperatures will once again warm up. Sunday, skies will be mostly clear during the day, making a lovely start to Spring. Sunday night temperatures will drop into the mid 30’s so some areas may experience some patchy frost, so make sure to  care for those outdoor plants.

Next week skies remain clear at the beginning and the weather warms up, bringing conditions back to what we’ve experienced the past few days. Thursday we start watching for the next systems arrival, so clouds will start to increase throughout the day, and we may see rain arriving as early as Friday.
