Nice For Now… Cooler Weekend… Tuesday Forecast Update – 4:25pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Tuesday afternoon! Our local weather has turned out hot this afternoon, with most areas reaching or breaking record highs. Check out the highs, along with records for today on the map below. Birmingham and Anniston shattered record highs for this date. At 4pm, Tuscaloosa had tied the record, but the temperatures may go up another degree or two before cooling this evening.

Expect increasing clouds tonight, with temperatures dropping into the middle to upper 50s. A few showers are expected late tonight and very early Wednesday morning, but most of you will sleep right through the event. Rain amounts will be generally less than 1/4th an inch, and some may not get a drop.

Wednesday and Thursday will feature a partly cloudy to mostly sunny sky, with highs in the 70s. While a few clouds may move through at times, rain is not expected after 7am on Wednesday and we should be totally dry on Thursday. A few showers are possible on Friday and early Saturday, but it sure looks like the best chance of rain will be south of Demopolis and Selma, based on the latest forecast models. We originally had a higher rain chance, but that is looking less and less likely based off the drier look to the models. Highs will dip back into the 60s on Friday and Saturday.

We’re watching Sunday night close, with the potential for a frost for areas north and east of Birmingham. Unless temperatures trend colder, west and central Alabama should miss out on a frost. I know a lot of plants are in bloom, so we’ll be carefully watching….
