Good Thursday afternoon! It has been another very mild day today, with temperatures reaching well into the upper 70s. Clouds have increased in our area, and we’ve got some rain over northwest Alabama as of 3:45pm. A large cluster of showers and storms continues to move out of Mississippi and into west Alabama this evening. If you live anywhere along and west of I-65, there’s a good chance you’ll get a soaking this evening and into the overnight hours. Models have done a really tough job with this wave of energy, but based off radar trends, I expect most areas west of I-65 to get rain from this. If you’re going to be out doors this evening, take the umbrella!

We’ll be stuck between an upper level low and an upper air ridge on Friday through Sunday. We will be close enough to the upper level low to bring occasional rounds of showers and storms each day. Rain amounts between now and the end of the weekend will approach 1 to 3 inches in west Alabama and under 1 inch in east Alabama. It will not rain all day every day, but keep the umbrella handy incase rain moves in at any time.

The rain chance will decrease on Sunday, as the system weakens and pulls away from Alabama. A few morning showers are possible on Sunday. I can’t rule out a few showers on Monday as well, but the risk of widespread rain is unlikely. Temperatures will remain very warm through the weekend and into the middle of next week.

Don’t forget about the time change over the weekend, as we “Spring Forward.” Set your clock ahead one hour Saturday night before going to bed.
