Warm Days Continue… Rain Chances Increase Ahead… Wednesday Forecast Update – 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Wednesday afternoon! Clouds are increasing this afternoon, as a developing storm system west of Alabama advects some cloud cover into the state. While most of you are experiencing mostly cloudy skies, we are dry across the state. Showers and a few storms over Mississippi and points west are moving north and not east. A strong upper air ridge over the southeastern US is blocking the rain to our west for the moment.

The ridge will back off a bit tomorrow through the weekend, allowing rain chances to increase in the area. I don’t expect a major rain on Thursday at all; in-fact, east Alabama will remain totally dry through Friday. Expect a few scattered showers and storms late Thursday and Thursday night over west Alabama. The best chance of showers and storms on Friday will occur over west Alabama, while east Alabama remains mostly dry. Even in west Alabama, I don’t expect an all day rain on Friday.

Our highest rain chance will arrive on Saturday afternoon through early Sunday morning, when most of the state will get a soaking rain. I don’t see any signs of severe weather at this time. Highs will remain in the 70s over the weekend, despite a mostly cloudy sky.

Temperatures will warm well into the upper 70s on Monday, with a few passing showers for areas near and north of I-20. We’ll become mostly sunny on Tuesday, with a high in the low 80s!

Don’t forget about the time change over the weekend, as we “Spring Forward.” Set your clock ahead one hour Saturday night before going to bed.
