Nice Weekend Ahead… Very Mild Next Week.. Friday Forecast Update – 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Friday afternoon! After we started the day off gloomy, the weather turned out beautiful this afternoon, as sunshine has returned. A surface high nearby will keep our local weather sunny and dry through the upcoming weekend. The upper air trough that brought the mess yesterday is rapidly lifting northeast, which will allow our local airmass to warm over the coming days.

Temperatures will drop quickly after sunset, with most areas in the upper 40s by 7pm or 8pm. Lows will dip into the upper 30s tonight, with a few low to mid 30s northeast of Birmingham. By sunrise Saturday, we’ll begin a rapid warming trend, as temperatures easily reach the upper 60s over west Alabama, with low to middle 60s northeast of Birmingham. Expect the same conditions for Sunday, under ample sunshine.

We’ll start off next week with a good dose of sunshine, but expect clouds to increase on Tuesday and Wednesday. Our weather will really turn warm as upper air ridging builds into the area. We’ll warm into the lower 70s on Monday and upper 70s on Tuesday. A few storms will become possible in west Alabama Wednesday afternoon, with a good chance of rain and a few storms on Thursday and Friday. At this time, I don’t see any signs of severe weather with this system locally, however, states to the west of Alabama may deal with severe weather issues.
