Rain on Thursday… Nice Weekend… Wednesday Forecast Update – 4pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Wednesday afternoon! It’s turned out to be a cool and dry day across Alabama after yesterday’s strong to severe storms. The latest from the National Weather Service confirms an EF-2 tornado hit the Bessemer/McCalla area yesterday evening, with winds of 120 to 125mph. The hardest hit area was the Bent Brook community. An EF-0 tornado touched down just southeast of Sylacauga in Talladega County yesterday evening as well.

Expect cool weather tonight, with lows in the upper 30s. Clouds increase tonight, but we will remain dry overnight. Rain will spread in during the mid morning from west to east on Thursday. Look for a good chance of rain on and off for much of the day. Rain amounts will range from 1/2 an inch to 1″ with this system. I don’t expect any severe weather issues, as the air will remain cooler and stable.

Skies gradually become sunny on Friday, with a high approaching 60. We’ll warm nicely this weekend, with upper 60s an a full dose of sunshine. Temperatures will remain rather cool at night. Highs warm into the 70s to start off next week, with no sign of a major cold snap in the next 7 day.
