Good Monday afternoon! It has turned out to be a fantastic final day of February, with temperatures in the lower 70s. Temperatures will gradually drop this evening, with lower to middle 50s by early Tuesday morning. A developing storm system west of Alabama will spread clouds into the state tonight, with a small chance of a stray shower overnight.

As instability increases on Tuesday, storms during the afternoon and early evening could become strong to severe. Damaging wind, hail and an isolated tornado will become possible. The main risk will come between 1pm and 10pm, but you will not have severe storms overhead for that long. That is the window where it’s possible for a severe storm to be in your area. Storms will produce heavy rain briefly before ending. If you’re getting out to vote tomorrow for election day, get out early. While there is a small chance of a shower in the morning hours, the best chance of rain will arrive during the afternoon.

Temperatures will turn cooler on Wednesday, with highs in the upper 50s. Expect temperatures to drop a good bit Wednesday night, with lows in the upper 30s. I don’t see any sign of a freeze or frost at this time. Highs will warm into the 60s on Thursday, with a good chance of showers returning during the day.

Skies become sunny on Friday through the weekend, with temperatures warming into the lower 60s on Friday, then upper 60s on Saturday. Low 70s are possible in some areas on Sunday, as the warming trend continues…
