Cool Now… Warmer Days Ahead… Thursday Update – 4:15pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Thursday afternoon! After a sunny start to the day, areas roughly along and north of I-20 are experiencing a mixture of sun and clouds this afternoon. Clouds across the northern half of the state will clear out this evening, and we can expect clear and cold conditions tonight. Temperatures will drop fast this evening, with 40s by 7pm, and 30s after 10pm. Overnight lows will reach the 32 degree mark along and north of I-20.

By Friday, conditions will start to feel nice, with highs reaching the middle 50s along I-20 and upper 50s south of I-20. Wind on Friday will be nearly light to calm, so you won’t have a wind-chill factor like today. Expect another light freeze and frost Friday night, with lows in the 30 to 32 degree range.

The weekend will mark the beginning of a warming trend, as the upper air trough moves out. Highs will reach the lower 70s in some spots on Monday and Tuesday. A few showers are possible on Monday, with a higher rain chance arriving Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
