Lots of Storms Today… Few Severe over Southwest AL… Monday Update – 11:30am #alwx @wvua23

Good Monday midday! At 11:30am, we’ve got lots of rain and storms tracking across Alabama, ahead of an advancing surface low over central Mississippi. A warm front is moving north, and that is pushing instability into some of our southwest Alabama counties. While everyone will see rain and storms today, areas generally to the south of HWY 82 from Reform to Tuscaloosa to Brent to Montgomery could see a few storms make it to severe levels. There is a risk of isolated wind damage, hail and a spin-up tornado this afternoon and evening. The main risk area includes cities near Livingston, Marion, Demopolis, Linden and Eutaw. Remain alert this afternoon and evening incase a severe storm moves into your area. The Storm Prediction Center has put out a slight risk southwest Alabama, and a marginal risk to include the HWY 82 corridor.

The risk will end from west to east during the evening hours. Expect rain amounts of 1-2″ across all of west and central Alabama. Some isolated flash flooding is possible under the stronger storms.
