2:45PM Radar Update… Heavy Rain… Low Severe Risk South of I-20… #alwx @wvua23

At 2:45pm Monday, there is a lot of heavy rain and active thunderstorms tracking northeast across Alabama this afternoon. At this time, there are no severe weather issues in our area. There is a tornado watch until 9pm for Sumter, Greene, Hale, Perry and Marengo County. Storms in that part of the state may become severe over the next few hours before the risk shifts east of our area. While that area is under a tornado watch, the risk of severe weather is low. Any severe weather issues should be very isolated.

For cities like Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Vernon, Jasper, Hamilton, Cullan, Talladega and Anniston, I do not expect severe weather issues, however, these cities will get some heavy rain this afternoon and evening. Rain amounts of 1-2″ will be common, with a few higher amounts.
