Cold is the Word! Monday Forecast Update – 4pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Monday afternoon! It is a cold day across Alabama, with temperatures falling steadily after lunch. If you think today feels cold, wait until tonight and Tuesday… As some moisture moves over Alabama this evening, expect a few sprinkles in spots, but most of this is not reaching the ground. Skies remain mostly cloudy through tonight. Lows will drop into the upper 20s tonight.

As low level temperatures continue to fall, a few areas could see some flurries tonight through midday on Tuesday, but this will not be a big deal in our area. Far north Alabama could experience a few isolated snow showers, but accumulations are not expected south of HWY 278 (Hamilton to Cullman to Gadsden). The mountains of northeast Alabama near Fort Payne could get a half inch of snow, generally above 800 feet.

Tuesday will be a cold and windy day, with highs only reaching the upper 30s across the area. Tuesday night will feature lows in the lower 20s. We’ll break out into some sunshine on Wednesday and Thursday, which will be nice. Temperatures will modify some on Thursday and Friday, especially for the southern half of the state, as temperatures reach the 50s.

Another surge of colder air will move into the state over the weekend.
