Chilly Days Ahead… Wednesday Forecast Update – 3pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Wednesday afternoon! As advertised in model data, a weak wave of low pressure brought a round of rain and thunder lastnight and this morning to Alabama. At 3pm, most of central and north Alabama is dry, with only a few light showers on radar. Rain continues in areas south of HWY 80, but that mess will also decrease in coverage tonight. Temperatures will drop into the middle 40s overnight.

Thursday will feature a mostly cloudy sky, with highs in the upper 50s. A southwest flow aloft and a surface front near the coast will keep a mainly cloudy sky in the forecast through Friday. A few light showers are also possible Thursday and Friday, but the risk of widespread rain is unlikely in this part of the state. Rain will be more widespread closer to the Gulf Coast. If you’re going to be outdoors for New Year’s Eve Thursday night, expect mostly cloudy skies, with temperatures dropping into the 40s after sunset. The air will turn much colder on Friday and Saturday, as highs only reach the upper 40s. Lows will dip below freezing Saturday night.

Sunshine returns on Sunday and Monday…

Alabama takes on Michigan State in Arlington, TX on Thursday. Kickoff is at 7pm. Expect cloudy skies and cold conditions. A few sprinkles are possible at kickoff, with a few snow flurries mixing in the sprinkles by the end of the game. At this time, travel issues are not expected. Fortunately, the game will be played indoors, so weather won’t be a factor.
