Strong Storms Moving Through… 8:30am Radar Update #alwx @wvua23

Warnings_1058.JPG

Good morning! At 8:30am, a large mass of heavy rain and thunder is moving across west Alabama. At this time, we don’t have any active warnings in our coverage area. There is a tornado watch until noon today for the western half of Alabama.

Widespread severe weather is not expected today. There could be a spin-up tornado or two this morning over west Alabama or this afternoon in east Alabama. A storm may also produce gusty strait line winds. We’ll watch radar trends carefully this morning and early afternoon. The line of rain and storms is impacting most areas west of I-65 now, but this activity will push east of I-65 by late morning and into the early afternoon. West Alabama will be in the clear of any severe weather issues by noon.

If we have any tornado warnings, you can tune into WVUA23. I’ll be live, non-stop for tornado coverage in the event we get some tornadic activity in our area. We cover west, central and east Alabama non-stop during tornado warnings.

Join us live on WVUA23 weekdays at 5, 6 and 10:00 P.M. and weekends at 10PM for the very latest on your news, weather and sports.
