Good Monday afternoon! After a very wet day across the state, conditions are drying out this afternoon and evening. Most areas picked up 1-2″ of rain, but severe weather did not become an issue with this event. Skies tonight will remain partly to mostly cloudy as a weak cold front passes through the state. There’s not any really cold air behind this front, but expect some big changes by the end of the week and weekend.

Temperatures will drop into the middle 40s tonight, with no risk of rain. We’ll warm into the lower 60s on Tuesday, which is closer to normal. Keep in mind, the normal high for Tuscaloosa this time of the year is 56. With a southwest flow aloft, expect skies to remain partly to mostly cloudy. Showers increase Tuesday night ahead of our next wave. Rain will become widespread on Wednesday, with the heaviest rain over the southern half of the state. Rain totals near and south of HWY 80 will approach 1″ with this event. Expect highs in the upper 50s on Wednesday and Thursday, with lows in the 40s.

New Year’s Eve is looking cool and mostly dry, with temperatures dropping into the upper 30s to near 40 after midnight. Models suggest there could be another wave of showers on Friday, so we may have to bump up rain chances if future model runs increase the risk. Highs will only reach the upper 40s on Friday and Saturday. We’ll enjoy increasing sunshine on Saturday.
