Mild Days Ahead… Storms on Friday… Monday Forecast Update – 4:25pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Monday afternoon! After a very messy Halloween weekend, conditions don’t look much better today. With tons of moisture in place over Alabama, we’ll maintain a mostly cloudy sky into this evening and overnight tonight. Expect temperatures to hold nearly steady this evening, with lower 60s at 7pm, 10pm and midnight. Some fog will develop across the area tonight and Tuesday night, so be careful on the roads. Don’t be shocked if you come across some patchy drizzle tonight as well. Most areas picked up between 1″ and 4″ over the weekend, but we were able to dodge any major flooding issues.

With a deep layer of moisture over Alabama and very weak uplift, I expect more clouds than sunshine on Tuesday and Wednesday. There could be a light shower or two on radar, but most areas will remain dry. There’s not enough uplift to really get rain to become widespread. Highs will reach the upper 70s on Wednesday and Thursday.

An upper air trough will send a cold front into Alabama Friday night and on Saturday. Expect a good chance of showers and storms ahead of the front Friday afternoon through early Saturday morning. Most models suggest the front moves south of our area during the day Saturday, however, some data hangs the front across the area. If the front doesn’t move south of us by Saturday morning, we may still have some showers and storms in the area during the day. We will update the forecast as we get closer, but keep checking back with us if you have outdoor plans this weekend. All data suggests Sunday will be dry and cooler.
