Storms Now… Very Warm Days Ahead… Monday Forecast Update – 4:35pm #alwx

Warnings_1040

Good Monday afternoon! It has been a wet day for most of you, with periods of rain and storms tracking from west to east across the state. Some areas have picked up nearly 1″ as of 4:30pm, while other areas have hardly enough to measure. Periods of rain and thunder will continue this evening, with a gradual end to the rain chances as we approach midnight tonight. Expect muggy conditions through tonight, with lows in the lower 60s.

The airmass will remain very warm and muggy all week, with highs topping out in the lower to middle 80s on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The risk of rain is much lower for the rest of the week, as the lift associated with the warm front will be well north of the area. There could be some fog each night this week, so keep that in mind if you are traveling at night or early in the morning. Expect a mix of sun and clouds this week…

A strong storm system will take shape to our west on Thursday and Friday, sending a cold front our way. Expect a few isolated storms Thursday evening, with a good chance of widespread rain and thunder on Friday. Severe weather is unlikely on Friday, but there could be some stronger storms. The front will stall out across south or central Alabama on Saturday, leaving some rain chance in the forecast. As the front backs northward on Sunday, most of you will get rain at times…
