One Day More… Saturday Forecast Update — 7:45pm

Good Saturday evening! Temperatures warmed nicely this afternoon into the low 60’s under a good amount of sunshine as some high clouds filtered in this afternoon and evening.

Tonight, the clouds will continue to thicken, keeping temperatures warmer overnight tonight in the low 40’s. Sunday morning will start off mostly dry, but the rain will quickly move across the state from west to east. We could see up to an inch of rain on Sunday. Temperatures will remain warm for Sunday as the cold front is still well to our west. We’ll top out in the low to mid 60’s Sunday afternoon.

The rain will slowly taper off Sunday night into Groundhog Day morning as the cold front pushes the rain east, some chilly air and a cold wind will move into Central Alabama. The low Monday morning will likely occur after dawn, in the mid-morning as the chilly air and cold wind push in. Monday afternoon will see clearing, but it will feel quite cold. Temperatures will struggle to the low and mid 40’s with a steady breeze out of the northwest making things feel colder.

Punxsutawney Phil will likely not see his shadow up in Pennsylvania Monday, which potentially could be good news for those who like warmer weather, although ultimately, the matter of his prediction is dependent on whether or not he remains above ground. Current forecast for Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania is cloudy with snow showers. We’ll see what his thoughts are come Monday.

Monday night through Wednesday will be calm, with mostly clear skies throughout as the winds slowly shift from the northwest to the southeast. Temperatures will recover some, back into the mid 50’s Wednesday as more clouds filter in from the southwest.

There is some uncertainty on whether or not we will see rain Wednesday night into Thursday; however, I believe we’ll some showers late Wednesday night into Thursday with a decent amount of cloud cover. For now, we’ll keep the rain chance in for both days as two systems (one in the Gulf, and one in the Great Lakes) move toward the Atlantic seaboard.

We clear out by Friday with some short-lived chilly air, but plenty of sunshine is in the forecast for Saturday as temperatures return to the 50’s.
