Nice Weather Now… Some Weekend Rain… Tuesday Forecast Update – 4:30pm #alwx

Warnings_965

Good Tuesday afternoon! With lots of sunshine today, some areas have warmed into the lower 60s across west and central Alabama. After a cold start to the day, it has turned out to be a nice late January day, but we’ve got more cold temperatures in the forecast overnight tonight, as most areas dip just below the freezing mark.

Temperatures will fall quickly after sunset, with most areas in the upper 40s at 7pm, upper 30s at 10pm and lower 30s by midnight. We can expect a frost and light freeze overnight tonight, under a clear sky and calm wind. Conditions will turn out nice on Wednesday, with ample sunshine and a mild day. Highs will approach 60 degrees in many areas on Wednesday, with middle 60s possible for some on Thursday. A cold front will pass through Alabama on Thursday, and we’ll notice the return of some cloud cover. We’ll call it partly sunny on Thursday, with a small chance of a stray shower or two.

Chilly air will return on Friday and Saturday, but we’ll only drop to our average high in the lower to middle 50s. With a developing storm system west of Alabama, I still expect a partly sunny sky on Friday, becoming mostly cloudy on Saturday. Friday and Saturday should be mostly dry, but a stray shower is possible on Saturday.

An area of low pressure will track across the state on Sunday, bringing a soaking rain with it. Look for most of Sunday to be a wet day for the state, with highs in the 50s. A surge of chilly air will move in on Monday and Tuesday of next week…
