A Tad Warmer Ahead… Rain This Weekend… Monday Forecast Update – 5pm #alwx

Warnings_965

Good Monday afternoon! After a cloudy and cold start to the day, this afternoon turned out pretty nice. Skies are sunny as of 4:45pm, and we will remain mostly clear overnight. Temperatures will get rather cold tonight, with a freeze in some areas. Temperatures may dip into the lower 30s in some locations overnight, under a clear sky. Expect temperatures in the lower 40s at 7pm, and upper 30s at 10pm.

If you’ve been keeping up with the news over the past few days, you’ve likely heard of the blizzard that’s beginning to impact the northeast. Coastal sections from near New York City to Boston to the coastline of Maine will experience blizzard conditions, with snow fall in feet! This will be a major disruption to travel for the next few days. Travel into the affected areas is highly discouraged tonight through Wednesday…

Tuesday and Wednesday will be very similar days, as high pressure moves over the area. Expect lots of sun both afternoons, with highs reaching the upper 50s. We’ll start off in the 30s both Tuesday and Wednesday morning, with a light freeze possible Wednesday morning. Expect temperatures to warm into the lower 60s on Thursday, as clouds increase ahead of a cold front. A stray shower is possible Thursday, but I expect most areas to stay dry.

Cooler air will take over on Friday, with a high in the lower 50s. Skies will remain partly sunny on Friday, then becoming mostly cloudy on Saturday. At this point, rain is unlikely on Saturday, but I can’t rule out a little rain late in the day. Expect a soaking rain on Sunday, with highs in the lower 50s. Overnight lows will remain above freezing, so no wintry weather impacts are expected.
