Sunny and Warm MLK Jr. Day… Sunday Forecast Update — 7:20pm

Good Sunday evening! We’ve had a pleasant start for this week today. Temperatures warmed to a high today of 63° and sunny skies made for quite an enjoyable Sunday afternoon. Tonight we continue to remain cloud free which will allow us to quickly cool down to a chilly temperature of 34°. Even with such a cold temperature tonight, we will quickly warm up tomorrow to a seasonably warm afternoon in the mid 60’s. The sky will remain clear throughout the day Monday, making for a rather nice Martin Luther King Jr. Day across Central Alabama.

Clouds return Tuesday afternoon as the first of two cold fronts swings through.  This frontal passage will not have any rain, but a few clouds will move across the state Tuesday night into Wednesday as temperatures cool into the mid 50’s Wednesday afternoon. The next cold front has a significantly better shot at bringing rain to Central Alabama. The second cold front will bring showers with it Thursday night and Friday morning and allow more chilly air to move south. After the showers push through, skies will begin to slowly clear up, and temperatures will be quite chilly with highs just in the low 50’s.

For next weekend we see clear skies return along with cooler temperatures than we saw this past weekend. Sunday we will see an increase in clouds during the day as things begin to set up for the next batch of showers to come though the beginning of next week.
