Nice Start to the Weekend… Nice Start to Next Week too! Friday Forecast Update – 3:45pm #alwx

Good Friday afternoon! After a cold start to the day, conditions have turned out very nice this afternoon. Most areas have warmed into the lower or middle 50s, which is close to normal. Expect a light freeze tonight, with a low near 30. Widespread frost is expected Saturday morning.

The modifying trend will continue on Saturday, with temperatures warming to near 60 degrees! Areas north of I-20 will likely top out in the 57 to 59 degree range, but that’s still nice for mid January. A weak cold front will pass through Alabama on Sunday, dropping temperatures back into the middle or upper 50s for highs. We’ll fall to near freezing Sunday night, with a clear sky.

Monday and Tuesday are both looking pleasant, with sunny skies and above average temperatures. Highs will approach 60 both days, as an area of high pressure remains nearby. Clouds will increase on Wednesday and Thursday, with a chance of a stray shower or two on Wednesday, then a chance of showers son Thursday and Friday. Model data has been all over the board on the next system, from a winter storm look to a dry and cool look. Right now, we’re going with the risk of a few showers, but warning people that changes are possible. At this point, the risk of winter weather looks pretty low.
