Dry Now, Soaking Rain Ahead… Thursday Forecast Update – 4:50pm #alwx

Good Thursday afternoon! Skies remain mostly sunny today, with temperatures reaching the middle to upper 80s in our area. The air remains dry, so conditions are comfortable for now. Big changes are expected as the weekend moves in, so enjoy the nice weather while it lasts. Temperatures will drop into the lower 60s tonight, with a mostly clear sky.

Clouds will steadily increase on Friday and Saturday, but I don’t expect any rain through Friday night. If you’re going to the local high school football games, expect dry and comfortable conditions. Temperatures will drop into the lower 70s during the games.

As moisture levels increase ahead of a storm system on Saturday, I can’t rule out a few pop up showers or storms. The risk of rain is still low on Saturday, but rain chances will quickly increase Saturday night and on Sunday. There’s a good chance rain will fall for most of the day on Sunday, with a soaking expected. While there will be breaks in the rain, keep the umbrella handy Saturday night, Sunday and on Monday. The heavier rain will move east of Alabama early Monday morning, but a few pop up showers are still possible on Monday. Highs will top out in the 70s on Sunday and lower 80s on Monday.

We’ll become mild and mostly dry on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with highs in the lower to middle 80s, with lows in the lower to middle 60s.

The tropics are quiet…
