Few Storms Possible This Eve… Dry and Warm Weekend… Friday Forecast Update – 3:40pm #alwx

Good Friday afternoon! At 3:40pm, we’re watching a few storms have developed on radar across the state. The shortwave trough responsible for scattered storms yesterday has moved to our southeast, so the coverage of storms today is lower. The storms this afternoon are isolated and moving west, so not everyone will get rain today. If you get a downpour in your area, it won’t last long before moving away. Take the umbrella with you this evening to be safe. The risk of isolated storms will gradually diminish this evening, as temperatures cool after sunset.

The weekend forecast is looking dry and warm, with little to no risk of rain across west and central Alabama. Temperatures will warm into the upper 80s after lunch both Saturday and Sunday, with lows in the middle 60s. A weak cold front will pass through Alabama on Monday, which will bring drier air and slightly cooler temperatures. A stray shower or storm is possible on Monday, but the risk is really low… Look for a good supply of sun on Tuesday through Friday, with highs in the lower to middle 80s each afternoon. Lows will fall into the upper 50s Monday night, then lower 60s Tuesday night and Wednesday night.

Football Friday: It will be mild this evening for the local high school football games. A few pop up storms on radar could wet down a few stadiums, but the risk of rain this evening is only about 30%, so most areas will remain dry. Take the rain gear just to be safe this evening. Temperatures will gradually drop into the 70s after 7pm this evening.

Football Saturday: Alabama takes on Florida on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium, with a 2:30pm kickoff. Conditions will be rather mild during the game, with temperatures in the upper 80s at kickoff. With sunny skies and calm winds, it will feel hot inside the stadium for the game. If you have outdoor events going on during game time, the weather will be nice and quiet.

The tropics are now quiet…
