Hot and Humid… Scattered Storms Possible… Tuesday Forecast Update – 4:45pm #alwx

Good Tuesday afternoon! Our local weather has turned out hot again today, with highs reaching the lower 90s in many areas. A few spotty storms have developed northwest of I-20, but most areas will not get rain today. These tiny storms will gradually diminish after sunset. Temperatures will fall into the lower 70s late tonight.

For Wednesday, expect a partly cloudy to mostly sunny sky, with highs in the lower 90s. A stray afternoon storm or two will become possible. As a cold front moves in from the northwest, scattered storms will become a little more likely on Thursday and Friday, but I don’t expect rain all day or night. Some areas will miss the rain with this front. The cold front will gradually move south of the area Friday night or early on Saturday, which will bring slightly cooler air into the area. Highs will drop into the upper 80s over the weekend. Humidity levels will drop a bit over the weekend, with a increase in sunshine late Saturday and on Sunday.

We’re watching a couple of areas in the tropics at this time. One weak low pressure located just east of the Bahamas is trying to get a little better organized, but wind shear is preventing rapid development of this feature. Another wave just to the east of Africa is becoming better organized. There is a decent chance this will become our next tropical storm, but models re-curve this feature before reaching the US.
