Mild Days… Some Rain… Thursday Afternoon Forecast Update – 4pm

Sevenday_640

Good Thursday afternoon! We’ve had a warmer day across Alabama, with highs in the middle to upper 50s. Temperatures were a little warmer than forecasted, due to some sun at times today, but I don’t hear too many complaints… If you have plans outdoors this evening, it will get cooler, but nothing like what we have dealt with; in-fact, we’ll stay above freezing tonight. We will fall into the middle 40s at 7pm, lower 40s at 10pm and upper 30s at midnight. Lows will bottom out in the upper 30s areawide today.

We’ll have more clouds than sun on Friday, but a south to southeast wind will really help to warm temperatures in the area. Most of west and central Alabama will warm into the lower 60s on Friday. A cold front will bring the risk of rain Friday night and early Saturday morning. We can expect storm totals around 1 inch during the overnight hours on Friday and early morning hours on Saturday. As drier air quickly takes over, we’ll notice a return to sunshine after lunch. Temperatures will warm into the lower 60s Saturday afternoon, which will feel great! A slightly cooler airmass will move in Saturday night, as lows drop into the middle 30s. Most of the area will remain several degrees above freezing.

Full sunshine and light to calm winds can be expected on Sunday, with a high near 60. We’ll fall to 40 Sunday night, with an increase in clouds. Some models show a weak area of low pressure passing nearby on Monday, with the chance of light rain. Due to different model looks, the forecast confidence on Monday is rather low. Expect the chance of some rain, with possible forecast changes between now and then.

We will go dry on Tuesday and remain dry through Thursday. A shot of cold air will reach us Tuesday night or early Wednesday, with highs settling back into the lower 50s.
