Warmer Days Ahead… Wednesday Forecast Update – 4:40pm

Sevenday_640

Good Wednesday afternoon! We had another very cold start to the day, with morning temperatures in the 9 to 16 degree range for much of the area. Fortunately, temperatures climbed above freezing this afternoon. All of the area reached the lower to middle 40s after lunch, under a sunny sky. This breaks the 60 consecutive hours of below freezing temperatures. High clouds are starting to approach from the west, and that’s signs of more change to come.

We’ll get cold again tonight, but not as cold as recent night. Expect lows in the middle to upper 20s, under a partly to mostly cloudy sky. To the west of Alabama, freezing rain is likely over north Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas tonight and early on Thursday. A winter weather advisory is in place for much of north Mississippi.

We’ll stay dry across Alabama tonight and on Thursday. Expect mostly cloudy skies on Thursday, with a high in the lower 50s. A few light showers are possible on Friday, but mainly Friday evening. Look for mostly cloudy skies on Friday, with a high in the upper 50s. Temperatures will start off Friday morning in the middle to upper 30s.

Rain is likely Friday night and early on Saturday, as a cold front tracks through Alabama. This front won’t have much cold air with it; in-fact, we’ll top out in the lower 60s on Saturday morning, falling into the 50s during the afternoon. Skies will gradually become clear Saturday evening and night. Expect a low near 40 Saturday night.

We’ll enjoy lots of sunshine on Sunday and Monday. Highs will top out in the upper 50s on Sunday and lower 60s on Monday. Lows at night will drop into the middle 30s Sunday night.
