Warmer Days Ahead… Tuesday Afternoon Forecast Update – 4pm

Sevenday_640

We had an incredibly cold start to our Tuesday, with all of central and west Alabama at or below 12 degrees. The warmest spot we could find was Demopolis at 12 degrees. Tuscaloosa fell to 9 degrees this morning! Everyone else was below that number, with lows as cold as 1 degree in Haleyville. We’ve had some high level clouds pass across the sky at times. Despite most of the day featuring sunny skies, temperatures just didn’t warm up much today. Highs have topped out in the middle to upper 20s across all of west and central Alabama.

If you have plans outdoors this evening or tonight, dress warm! Temperatures will drop fast after sunset, with a temperature of 20 at 7pm, 18 at 10pm and 16 at midnight. Lows tonight will fall into the lower to middle teens. One good thing… Winds will remain calm this evening and tonight, so don’t expect a wind chill like lastnight. Skies will remain mostly clear during the overnight hours.

After a cold start to our Wednesday, we will begin a slow warming trend. Highs will top out in the lower 40s on Wednesday, under a mostly sunny sky. I expect a few high level clouds from time to time. Thursday will be much warmer. We’ll start off in the middle to upper 20s Thursday morning, with an afternoon high in the lower 50s. Clouds will increase during the day on Thursday, as low level moisture moves back in.

By Friday, we’ll be watching an upper level trough and cold front west of Alabama. With moisture increasing across the state, a few showers are possible during the day. I really don’t expect much rain on Friday, but have the umbrella handy. Highs will top out in the upper 50s on Friday.

A low pressure and cold front will track across the area on Saturday, with a good chance of a soaking rain. The best chance of rain will occur before lunch on Saturday, with a high near 65. Another area of low pressure will bring the risk of some rain on Sunday or Sunday night. We can expect highs to remain near 60 on Sunday and Monday. There’s not really any cold air associated with our next storm system…
