Cool Days, Cold Nights… Warmer Air Ahead… – Monday Update 4pm

Good Monday afternoon! If you look out the window, it looks great outside, but if you step outside, it feels far from great… Temperatures managed to reach the lower 50s along I-20, but areas north of I-20 are in the 40s. Clouds are thicker north of I-20, which is keeping temperatures colder than the southern half of the state. A weak upper air disturbance will swing through the state tonight and early tomorrow. This will bring a few clouds from time to time tonight and tomorrow. A few snow flurries are possible over the Tennessee Valley, but I don’t expect any flakes over our part of the state.

Temperatures will get much colder tonight, with lows below freezing across our area. Look for lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s across all of west and central Alabama, where a freeze warning is in place. Expect a partly sunny sky along and north of I-20 during the day on Tuesday, but skies should become sunny south of I-20. Highs will vary from the upper 40s north of I-20 to lower 50s south of I-20 Tuesday afternoon. Another freeze is likely Tuesday night, with lows in the upper 20s to around 30.

Wednesday will promise to be a better weather day, as highs warm into the upper 50s. Winds will calm down a bit on Wednesday, so that will help conditions feel nice. Look for cold temperatures during the morning hours on Wednesday, with a gradual warm-up through the day. Skies will remain mostly sunny on Wednesday and Thursday. We can expect highs to reach the lower 60s on Thursday. The weekend forecast is looking fair, with warmer temperatures. Highs will reach the middle to upper 60s on Friday and Saturday. That being said, a few showers are possible at any point on Saturday and Sunday. A few thunderstorms are possible on Easter Sunday, but I don’t expect severe weather at this time.
