Mild Weather, Some Rain…Then Dry… Wednesday Afternoon Forecast Update 4:30pm
September 26, 2012 Leave a comment
Good Wednesday afternoon to you! Warm weather is back today, as temperatures reach the middle 80s across much of west and central Alabama. We’ve noticed a few puffy cumulus clouds across the sky today, as tropical moisture increases a bit. Due to a higher moisture level, humidity is feeling a touch higher today. Humidity levels will gradually creep up through Friday. A surface high east of Alabama will continue to pump moisture and heat northward into Alabama. The cool nights we’ve noticed lately will end tonight, with lows in the 60s. Higher dewpoints are to blame for the warmer lows, as temperatures can’t drop below the dewpoint.
The local high school football games should remain dry Friday night, but a passing shower can’t be ruled out…
We will remain rain free through Thursday, but a passing shower or storm will become possible after lunch on Friday. Rain chances look pretty small on Friday due to a lack of a lifting mechanism. An old quasi-stationary front will move into north Alabama on Saturday. This will bring the risk of a few scattered showers or storms through the day on Saturday, but model data doesn’t show anything heavy over our area. Alabama takes on Ole Miss Saturday evening, with a 8:15pm kickoff. We can expect a mostly cloudy sky during the game, with temperatures in the low 70s. There’s a chance of a few showers or a thunderstorm during game time.
Big questions come into play Saturday night through Monday, as all model data is showing a different look. We are watching data for a developing gulf coast low. While some data doesn’t show this happening, some of the reliable computer models indicate a low moving right along the Gulf Coast, spreading rain into Alabama sometime Saturday night or on Sunday. You really need to keep an eye on forecasting changes for you weekend plans. There’s a chance of major forecasting changes…
All data shows drier air moving in on Monday and Tuesday, with sunny skies and low humidity returning.
