Saturday Evening Forecast Discussion – 8 p.m.

Much drier air is filtering into the area behind a cold front that moved across the state this afternoon. Overnight lows will drop into the low 20s to low 30s. Sunday, high pressure builds back into the area with highs into the 50s to around 60. After one more cool night Sunday, temperatures will start moderating as the surface high shifts east and winds become southerly on the west side of the ridge. Highs on Monday and Tuesday will be back into the 60s.

A surface low moving across the northern U.S. will drag a front toward Alabama late Tuesday. Models are fairly consistent in stalling the front across our north if it makes it into the area at all. As the front gets closer rain showers will increase early Wednesday morning and be possible through the day. Coverage will likely depend on the timing/strength of a weakening short wave crossing the northern Gulf. It currently looks like scattered showers are possible areawide with the main focus in the north.

High pressure builds across the area briefly on Thursday. We will have a small chance for some showers through the end of the week, but that could change depending on how quickly the system moves across the country. Temperatures for the end of the week will be above normal on the upper 60s to low 70s.
