Radar Update Midnight Tuesday Night…

Showers and storms are still happening across much of west Alabama this evening as a cold front moves in from the west. Some of these cells are producing heavy rain and some lightning. The heavy rain and storms are moving north northeast at 30mph. Showers and storms will continue to increase ahead of the front, then quickly end behind the front. Look for a few showers to continue behind the front, but after the cold front passes your area, don’t expect anything heavy. We will continue with a mostly cloudy sky and a few light showers through Wednesday as the core of the upper level low moves over our area.

The cold front will be through Tuscaloosa and Demopolis by 2am and move east of Interstate 65 by 3 or 4am. The risk of any storms becoming severe is very low. Instability values are too low for any issues. We’ll watch the radar over the next couple of hours, but the MCS over the northern Gulf and a weak surface low over the Alabama coast is blocking the inflow of unstable air into our area. This is what many people would call good sleeping weather.
