Nice Sunset in Tuscaloosa! Wednesday Update 6:20 PM

Here’s a nice way to end our Wednesday. We’re looking west from our Tuscaloosa towercamera towards downtown Tuscaloosa. Notice the sun has already set by 6:20pm. Sun sets in west Alabama at 6:05pm now! I sure miss the days where the sun set after 8pm…

Wednesday Afternoon Forecast Discussion – Update 4:11pm

A good Wednesday afternoon to you! It has been very nice again this afternoon with ample sunshine and warm temperatures. Many spots have reached 80 degrees under a sunny sky. A storm system is developing west of Alabama today. The front will arrive Thursday night and will bring a round of showers and storms with it. Skies will gradually become partly cloudy to mostly cloudy late tonight and on Thursday. A few showers and storms will become possible late on Thursday and into Friday morning.

Cooler air will move in on Friday. Some spots will struggle to reach 60 degrees under a mostly cloudy sky. A breezy northwest wind will also take over on Friday. Sunshine will return late in the day as high pressure gradually moves in from the west. Saturday and Sunday will feature sunny days with warm days and cool nights. Highs will remain in the 60s on Saturday and Sunday. Lows will fall well into the 30s at night, but I think we will stay just above freezing. There could be a couple of spots reach the lower 30s by Sunday and Monday morning. With a strong high pressure overhead, we’ll have bright sunny days through Monday and Tuesday.

Temperatures will warm back into the 70s early next week. In-fact, Halloween Day will feel great. It will get chilly at night under a clear sky. If you’re going to be outdoors after sunset, expect some chilly temperatures. Lows will remain in the 30s Monday night.

We’re watching Hurricane Rina in the Caribbean this afternoon. Dry air is getting involved with the storm now, so it’s weakening. This is good news for the Cancun area, as the storm will likely be a weak hurricane at landfall tonight. This will minimize the damage for that area.
