Cool Today, Nice This Weekend…Thursday Morning Update 9:13 AM

Check out the cooler air on the map above. The red numbers are the surface temperatures. Many of us are in the middle to upper 70s in the Tuscaloosa area. With a cloudy sky and cool air advection taking over, we may have a hard time reaching 75 today. Some places to the north of Fayette will likely stay in the 60s all day. Skies should stay mostly cloudy through the day, so don’t expect a big warm up. While it may look like it’s going to rain at times, the rain is pretty much over with. There could be a light shower or two before 1pm, but the chance of that is low. The wind will continue to gust to 20 or 25 mph at times through the day as a strong high pressure moves north of our area.

Skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A wedge of cooler air sets up over east Alabama on Friday and Saturday. This will bring a big temperature difference between west Alabama and east Alabama. Look for low 70s for highs in east Alabama on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We’ll have a little more sun in west Alabama, with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Football Friday: Temps will start off in the middle 70s at kickoff with a mostly cloudy to partly cloudy sky. Temperatures will fall into the middle 60s at the end of the local high school games.

Saturday’s game: Alabama plays North Texas in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, with a kickoff time at 6:30pm. Temperatures will start the game in the middle 70s, with an ending temperature in the middle to upper 60s. The game will remain dry, with a partly cloudy to mostly cloudy sky.

Lows will fall well down into the 50s tonight and Friday night. Expect temps between 53 and 56. A gradual warming trend takes over next week, with sunny skies making a return.
