Tuesday Afternoon Forecast Discussion – 3:35 PM Update

A good Tuesday to you! It’s been a hot few days, with many themometers reaching the 90s today and yesterday. In-fact, a few spots are closer to 95 degrees to the south of Tuscaloosa. The cool mornings last week have been replaced by muggy and warm temperatures. It’s spring in Alabama, so you know the deal, the weather is about to go through another change.

The forecast stays dry through much of Thursday, but a pop-up shower or storm can’t be rulled out. A weak cold front will push into Alabama on Friday and Saturday. The front will serve as a focal mechanism for more showers and storms to develop. At this time, there are no signs of severe storms over the weekend. A vigourous upper level low will take shape over the eastern half of the nation. This will bring rain chances through the weekend, as upper level disturbances pin-wheel around the low. Each day will feature a risk of scattered showers and storms. Temperatures will be a bit cooler starting on Friday due to a trough over the east and more clouds. Highs will reach the lower 80s on Friday, but middle to upper 70s are expected on Satuday, Sunday and Monday.

Dry conditions will move back in on Monday and Tuesday.
