Black Warrior River Flood Pictures – Updated Wednesday at 4:30 PM

These pictures were sent in from Tina Young of the Black Warrior River at Oliver Lock and Dam.

If you’re familiar with this area on the west side of Tuscaloosa, there’s normally a good 30 to 40 foot drop along the spillway. With the heavy rain yesterday, last night and this morning, the river is rising fast. In-fact, there’s almost no drop in river level above and below the dam. Many streams and rivers in the area are rising fast and will continue to be an issue for some folks in flood prone areas. Many areas picked up between 3 and 7 inches of rain, so it’s no wonder that river flooding is becoming an issue today. The good news is that dry conditions will be settling in this evening and over the next few days. This will give the rivers a chance to lower over the next 7 days.
