Hot and sweaty. Get use to it! The weather will continue to bring us more of the same in West Alabama. With a ridge in place, things will heat up in the afternoon with highs in the middle to upper 90s Wednesday and Thursday. There continues to be small chances for rain and thunderstorms, too, but most of us will stay dry. Rain chances for Wednesday and Thursday are 20% or less.

Friday, it looks like there’s a better chance for some thunderstorms across the area as a boundary slides into the Tennessee Valley. That means the chances for rain will be greater north of U.S. 82 Friday afternoon and evening.

For the weekend and start of next week, we settle back into a typical summer pattern with hot afternoon temperatures and slim chances for thunderstorms.

We continue to watch the Carribean Sea where a wave of low pressure is passing over Haiti and the Dominican Republic and is heading towards Cuba. It’s bringing heavy rains to those countries. The forecast brings this wave into the Gulf of Mexico by the end of the week. There, conditions are more favorable for development of it into a stronger system. We will, of course, keep you posted.  You can get the latest from the National Hurricane Center by clicking here.
